Holistic Review U: ultimate supplement program for the best natural health. Last revised May 16, 2008. (Minor changes Tuesday, September 2, 2008.)

The hardest part of a health program can be getting started.

    1. The most essential supplements are a good multivitamin and buffered vitamin C.

Obviously, you can expect the best results from the best multivitamins, with advanced anti-aging antioxidants (as in Chapter A). However such top quality multivitamins need 2 or 3 pills daily, not just one. In addition, it is best to use 1,000 mg. buffered vitamin C twice daily, ideally Alacer Super Gram II which is multi-buffered and time released. (See chapter I.) More vitamin C is often suggested, which is mostly a matter of opinion. We suggest 1,000 mg., twice daily, as a safe and effective starting point for almost every adult.

(Please note that we do not recommend any amount of "Ester C"(R) on a regular basis. "Ester C"(R) is generally accepted as safe and effective--and in our view, is good for emergency use. However the vitamin C activity is much stronger than usual, while the buffering is not much stronger. In contrast, any vitamin C which we recommend is of normal strength and fully reacted with multiple ascorbates. This dissenting view has been posted since May 17, 2008.)

    2. We suggest a "One Pill of Each" program for serious but cautious people.

Many people believe in taking vitamins and natural supplements, but are afraid due to lack of experience or a delicate digestive system. Other people may have elderly relatives who certainly would benefit from supplements, but who need to be extra cautious due to an imperfect ability to recognize adverse reactions. Such people often have an understandable reluctance to take more than one pill of any one supplement. For such people we suggest the following, pending the approval of a doctor. Please note that the labels often suggest 2 daily of these supplements. Thus, one daily is very little. This is not intended to be the "best" dose, but only a safe starting point.

Please note that for women over 30, 7-Keto plus Remifemin may be mixed together in the same bottle, so that each one is taken approximately half the time. Men over 30 may do the same with 7-Keto plus Ultra Prostate Formula. All of these may well be increased to 1 daily for people over 40, especially if there seem to be good results.

As an extra precaution: one day per week (such as Saturday or Sunday) discontinue all supplements possible.

If you ever have signs of the flu, discontinue everything except buffered vitamin C, Colon Green and Magnesium-Potassium. These then should be increased to one of each, 4 to 8 times per day. I.e., about one of each every hour or two. (Co-E1 and Black Cherry might also be helpful, but only up to 4 times in the morning.)

    6 pills for the morning.

Please note that Co-E1 and Coenzymate B Complex usually should be taken in the morning because they can cause an energy boost, which might interfere with sleep. The others might be taken in the afternoon.

    *   1 per day per chapter A:
 ... Liquid Multi-Gels by Now Foods
    *   1 per day per chapter B:
 ... 5 mg. Enteric Co-E1 by Menuco
    *   1 per day per chapter B:

    *   1 per day per chapter M:

    6 pills for the afternoon.

Please note that we cheat a bit: vitamin C is also listed for the morning. However vitamin C is so very important, and most people will recognize it as such. (However if necessary, you can remove it from either the morning or the afternoon list.) Except for Calcium Citrate, all of the other supplements may also be taken in the morning.

    *   1 per day per chapter D:
 ... Colon Green by Futurebiotics
    *   1 per day per chapter I:
 ... Super Gram II Vitamin C by Alacer
    *   1 per day per chapter J:

    3. If you are serious about preventing diseases and slowing down aging, then gradually consider supplements from every chapter of this Holistic Review.

We do not suggest that you immediately take a large number of supplements. The "One Pill of Each" program above is a good starting point. After following that program for one year, then we would suggest gradually trying one of the others at a time.

We also suggest that you read over this list once a year. Then for each product with which you are unfamiliar, please revisit the chapter mentioned. We understand that these seem to be a lot of pills! Nonetheless many elderly people end up taking just as many prescription drugs with dangerous side effects. As you read about these supplements, you probably will agree that these suggestions all are safe as well as of vital importance.

Also, if you decide to take many different supplements, then you certainly can reduce the dosages. By using different "skipping days" for different supplements, the total pills per day are reduced. This is easily done with a "pill organizer" (a pill box with separate compartments). More details will be posted here, if reader interest is expressed in the online forum at the bottom of this page.
