Holistic Review health product guide i4: high-antioxidant or moderate usage cell immunity supplements.

Most of these supplements are such potent antioxidants that some people can only tolerate two or three at a time, and should avoid taking several at one meal.

Some people may in addition need to reduce basic antioxidants such as beta carotene, CoQ10, ginkgo and ALA. A few are not super-antioxidants, but listed here because their use requires a similar level of restraint. Hopefully our readers may submit their informal test results to suggest which are most effective.

    *   Max3 IP-6 with Maitake and Cat's Claw by Enzymatic Therapy.

    *   Healthy Cells and Breast for Women by Enzymatic Therapy.

    *   Healthy Cells and Prostate for Men by Enzymatic Therapy.

    *   Healthy Prostate & Ovaries with astragalus, crinum and graviola by Nutricology.

    *   Bio-Curcumin turmeric extract with advanced absorption by Life Extension.

    *   Pomeratrol pomegranate with resveratrol by Now Foods.

    *   EGCg(R) Green Tea Extract and Super Antioxidants by Now Foods

EGCg(R) is a leading, patented, top quality extract of green tea. Now Foods sells this by itself, and also as the primary ingredient in a formula, Super Antioxidants, supplying a full range of advanced antioxidants. If you are taking Adam or Liquid Multigels in chapter A, which already supply a full range of antioxidants, you may wish to focus on the plain EGCg(R). Otherwise you might prefer Super Antioxidants.

    *   AngioBlock with bindweed by Nutricology.

Not a super-antioxidant, but in a way the opposite. Doctors are more likely to allow antioxidants during surgery than during chemotherapy. The opposite is true for AngioBlock, which therefore may take the place of antioxidants during chemotherapy. Theoretically may block the formation of new blood vessels to starve unhealthy cells. Shark cartilage has a similar reputation but is not more effective and is harsh on the digestive system. Caution: not for use during surgery, wound healing, pregnancy or lactation. Not for children. Not appropriate for prevention or health building, but only under certain pre-existing conditions. Use only under a doctor's consent.

    *   Fresh wheat grass juice.

Also not a super-antioxidant, but similarly, should be taken with some caution. Overdose is harmful. This potent green chlorophyl also needs to be taken quite separately from fruits or beets. Wheat grass grows easily in window boxes. This is not much bother if you have plenty of boxes and keep replanting. Cut a handful with scissors, blend with a bit of water, strain and drink. Some health programs also include its use as a rectal suppository. The second best source is frozen wheat grass juice by various brands. Third best is Pine's Low Temperature Dried Wheat Grass in tablets by Now Foods.
